Happy times at the Winery

McKinney Arts and Jazz Festival

It was a warm day in downtown McKinney that weekend. Fortunately a sitting area had been set up where foot weary revelers could buy a glass of great Munson Wine Trail winery wine and enjoy the shade. Collin Oaks Winery returned with our much sought after Blueberry and some other delightful reds. Over 400 really nice folks visited us for a taste and many took a bottle of Blueberry home wih them. This day also marked the beginning of the offering of our Blueberry through Lone Star Cellars in downtown McKinney. We'll miss you out at the winery, but if you're in a hurry, stop by Lone Star and ask for it. It's the same great taste you'd find in our tasting room.

Matt and Odie came all the way from Southern California to enjoy a Texas springtime.
Spring is finally popping out all over at Collin Oaks.

The cool weather in North Texas has delayed the wild flowers, but the show has been worth the wait.

El Reno Fun Days Gathering

A super group of good folks from the old days in El Reno gathered at Collin Oaks for a fun weekend of reminiscing and enjoy the spring countryside. The weather was perfect and everyone enjoyed the wine, food and each other. The occasion was so great that everyone left looking forward to next year.  Pictures of the event will be shown here as they come in.

Work continues on remodeling Gate House. . .

The terrace was completed just in time for Monica and Caleb's wedding reception.  Over 80 guests gathered at Collin Oaks for an evening of good friends, food and congratulations to the happy couple. Pictures of the reception are posted below.

Fifth FridayTM . . .

Every Fifth FridayTM we will host a FIFTH FRIDAY event weekend at Collin Oaks Winery. On that Friday night, we will open the Cask 'n Oak room for tastings of our new wines, discuss plans for future events, and enjoy the fellowship of like minded people (you!).  On Saturdays, the winery grounds will be open to the public for tours, parties, live entertainment and just enjoying the countryside. Don't miss it!

Fifth Friday is a Trademark of Collin Oaks Winery.

McKinney Arts, Jazz and Wine Festival June 7-8 2008 . . .

We will be returning to downtown McKinney this June for the 2008 McKinney Festival. The Munson Wine Trail wineries were so sucessful last year that we will be expanding our presence to include a wine enjoyment area next to the tasting tent. The time of the festival is to be expanded to start earlier and continue later into the evening. Be sure to mark your calendar and watch this space for further details.

McKinney Arts and Jazz Festival 2007

The crew arrived early Saturday morning to set up the tasting table. After weeks of constant rain, nature relented and gave the McKinney Arts and Jazz Festival a beautiful day. The Collin Oaks Winery table drew a large crowd, giving out over 600 samples of Cabernet Sauvignon, Ember Rose, Ember Lo and Blueberry, and sold out of both Ember Rose and Blueberry. Pictured in Collin Oaks Winery shirts, from the left: Juli, Gary, Lara, Louis, Linda, Rachelle, and David.

Thanks to all the folks who made our coming out party such a great success. In the six pictures above, starting from the upper left: David, Monica and Caleb, Ed and Kathy, Juli and me, our lovely granddaughter Emilee, Louis and . . . (me again). We had the second most coupon collection of all twelve wineries, and the second highest sales, right behind our host Landon's Winery. The biggest seller was the Ember Rose, but the surprise hit was the Blueberry. We sold out of both, and are now going full steam ahead to get the shelves stocked with both. We will announce when they are ready, and have a come 'n fetch day at the Winery.

North Texas Winemakers Guild Meeting 2007

It was a dark and stormy night . . . and the wine guild braved the elements to gather at Collin Oaks Winery for an evening of epicurean communion. A super crowd of almost forty members and guests convened, making plenty of good food and company, not to mention a large selection of our usual personal concoctions, from smooth Chardonnay to sweet Mead to Prickly Pear Cactus as well as some tasty reds . This was the inaugural event for the Cask ‘n Oak room. Seating space was tight, but everyone seemed to find plenty to eat and drink. Hosts Juli and Gary provided the meat dishes, and members brought a wide selection of side dishes and desserts. Gary
gave those interested a tour of the winery, including a sneak preview taste of the red blend that will soon be offered in the tasting room.

Our thanks to Eual Dubroca for organizing the event and to Louis and Linda Pollaehn for providing parking to handle the oversize crowd. It is hoped that the Guild will return again later in the year when the weather is more conducive to using the outside facilities also.
